The National Irrigation board is constructing 31 community dams and household water pans across the country at a cost of 450 million shillings in preparation of the long rains.

The boards say the dams and water pans will assist in putting more land under irrigation in a bid to boost food production.

In a bid to increase agricultural production in the Country the Government targets to put 477,625 acres of land under irrigation as it seeks to move away from rain feed agriculture.

To this end the National Irrigation board has started construction of community and households water pans across the country at a cost of 130 shillings per cubic meter. read more
